YES! We have a Season 6!

It was confirmed today by the CW that Supernatural has been renewed for another year - Season 6, here we come!!

Also, in other news, Eric Kripke has stepped aside as ShowRunner and Sera Gamble will take over as of next season. Yay!! Apparently Kripke has other projects he's working on for the network, which is VERY exciting :D

And as for TVNZ? Well, who knows when they'll start airing Season 4 again...we're halfway thrugh February and they took it off the air at episode 4 of Season 4, which was in December, saying they'd bring it back "after Christmas"....HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

And what did everyone think of the last episode, "My Bloody Valentine"? Near broke my heart at the end...wonder if God was listening to Dean's desperate plea for help? I hope so. I can just see him saying "yes" to Michael if it means saving Sammy...

Now we have another hellatus - next new episode (season 5) will air on Friday afternoon, 26 March (NZ time), online of course (thanks to TVNZ and their erratic programming!).

TVG: For Valentine’s Day you have “My Bloody Valentine,” airing February 11, with a Cupid. This being Supernatural, what kind of havoc does he or she create?

SG: Well, for starters, he shows up stark naked and gunning for hugs! Sam and Dean are investigating a series of gory murder/suicides—all people who were desperately in love. They suspect the culprit may be the supernatural being who made the matches to begin with—a Cupid [played by Southland’s Lex Medlin, as first reported by EW.com] gone rogue. So they capture and interrogate him. All I can say is, he is a very loving dude. It's hilarious.

TVG: Anything else you can tease?

SG: The search for God will soon yield a solid lead. The Archangel Michael will be introduced. We will answer the question, “What does Castiel act like when he's drunk off his ass?” And the brothers will go to Heaven. Yes, actual Heaven.

HAPPY NEW YEAR all! Wow, it's been a long hellatus...but hope is on the horizon! This Friday (NZ time) sees the return of Supernatural to the US screens, which means it'll be available to us around 4-5pm usually...and not a moment too soon either!!

The Real Ghostbusters

"Changing Channels" - what did you think?? Personally, I loved it - such great fun with all the TV show gags, and the bombshell re the Trickster's real persona? Awesome :) Loved it, all of it!

Now, to this week's episode, "The Real Ghostbusters". The official synopsis is:

Super fan Becky (guest star Emily Perkins) uses Chuck's (guest star Chuck Benedict) phone to trick Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) into attending a Supernatural fan convention, complete with fans dressed up as Sam and Dean.

One of the activities is a live action role playing game, but things quickly turn sour after a real ghost appears on the scene.

Jim Conway directed the episode with teleplay by Eric Kripke and story by Nancy Weiner.

And of course, the other news this week was that Jensen and longtime girlfriend Danneel Harris got engaged! So exciting, I literally sqeeeeed when I read this :D They are such a cute couple, and even though some fans are peeved? I think it's great news! I wish them all the best (as I know alot of my friends and fellow SPN fans do).

Awwwwwww...just so darn cute together! Best looking couple in town? I would say so :)

Changing Channels

I know there's been alot of talk about last week's S5 ep, "The Curious Case of Dean Winchester". Some fans loved it, some hated it. My take on it is that it was great - loved Chad Everett as "old Dean" (and particularly loved that he picked up alot of Jensen's personal characteristics which made watching "old Dean" so entertaining). Jim Beaver's performance was top-notch - so great to see him shine like that! And I loved Jared's performance too - great supporting role, letting the aforementioned two shine, backing them up with a solid performance of his own, which is what made the whole ep work, in my humble opinion.

The comedy was brilliant! I was a little disappointed that the apocolypse storyline didn't seem to be progressed any, but then I did understand that Bobby had to have his day, and it was handled very well, I thought.

Overall, loved it - two thumbs up!

Next up, we have "Changing Channels" this week, and I found this great article from a writer who has had an advance screening of this ep. If you don't like spoilers, what are you doing here...kidding! Click on the link for the full article - I'm looking forward to the ep even more now, after reading it - he doesn't give away too much, but drops a few hints in there to make it more tempting. Perfect :)

Just watched ep. 4 "The End" online - wowsa! Freakin' awesome! Definately loved the return of smart-ass/funny Dean (and badass Dean - cool!) - have missed him! Loved Cas as well - that was hysterical, both present and future Cas! Lucifer in Sammy's meatsuit was kinda weird, but well-played. And more Chuck - woot! Love Chuck :)

Wowsa! Episode 2 "Good God, Y'all" was pretty explosive huh? Great stuff! Loved seeing Ellen, Jo and Rufus back, gutted that Bobby's still not healed :( And Cas was his usual chucklesome self :)

Pretty sad at the end there - obviously the boys have a long way to go to mend their broken relationship.

Well, I'm not sure there's much to be said for the Season 5 premiere apart from that it was FREAKIN' AMAZING! So many great moments, I was truly on the edge of my seat when watching it online - and the fact that it was uploaded a little after 2pm NZ time rocked as well!

On the Eve of the Season 5 premiere

So sorry for neglecting this blog lately...seems to be so many things to do, this has kind of fallen by the wayside...!

But here we are - on the cusp of a new series (begins 11 September, NZ time) - I can't say this hellatus "flew by" but the last month certainly has, what with all the spoilers, casting sides, conventions and other stuff that has been coming out. All good stuff!

I thought it was prudent to list the link I use to watch Supernatural online at this time as well, seeing as I'll be stalking my laptop tomorrow (Friday) from 4pm onwards, waiting for the link to become available...! It's usually available from 4-5pm, so if you watch online or WANT to watch online, here's what I use:

Season 5 premiere and Comic-Con news

So, Kripke, Misha Collins, Jim Beaver, Sera Gamble and Ben Edlund attended Comic-Con this year - and they were great at letting go a few spoilery bits!

Also, this great article over at Buddy TV gives the lowdown on the entire panel and what was discussed. Great insight into Castiel's role this season, hints that Bobby has a big storyline this season, and interesting info about Lucifer.

We already knew that Jessica and Meg return in Season 5, but he also says that Ellen and Jo Harvelle are also returning - yay!

I'm not sure if it's in this interview or not, but I did read somewhere else that this season there will be some finishing off of loose ends from previous seasons, including the "Croatoan" episode. Wonder if we'll ever find out about why Dean's eyes bled in "Bloody Mary"? Or why Sam's eyes turned yellow momentarily in the final scene of "Yellow Fever"?

Kripke also hinted at Season 6 being a definate possibility but that Season 5 wouldn't be "watered down" because of it.

I'm liking that the boys are meant to be drawing closer together this season, after Season 4 being mostly about ripping them apart.

That's a good thing :)

Well, this was an interesting article from Spoiler.TV...

I couldn't help but wonder, while reading this, that this perfectly describes Misha Collins...anyone else think that? I think it was the "peircing eyes" that did it for me.

And, let's face it: It wouldn't be the first time Kripke & Co. have sent out a false casting call to throw the fans off (see: Misha's audition as a "demon").

Guess we'll have to just wait for 10 September to find out.

Sorry guys! Got sidetracked with other stuff recently - now that the finale is over (and what a finale it was - wowsa!!), I'll be posting some stuff in here to keep us all busy over the 4 month "hellatus" till Season 5 is aired.

Hopefully, diversionary tactics will work?? Let's give it a shot. I'm already trying it out - re-watched series 1 through 4 over the past month with my hubby. Tonight we watched "On The Head of a Pin" - I think that has to be one of my all time fave episodes, on reflection. When I first watched it, I was yelling at the TV...tonight I was just trying to hold my tongue to avoid giving away the plot to my hubby (he's a SN virgin). So much happened in that episode!!

Anyway, in the meantime, why not try reading this great fan-fic from author "gaelicspirit" over at www.fanfiction.net? It's called "Holding On To Let Go" and would have to be one the best stories I've read for awhile.

Should keep you busy till I get back :)

Jump the Shark - aftermath

Wow - what an episode eh? I can't help but think that it's all a setup for something that's going to happen further down the track (ie: next season). I guess cos I've been re-watching the first series of SN this past week on DVD, and there are quite a few little hints waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back there for stuff that happened in series 3 and 4. And, we all know the writing team is THAT good, so it's not such a stretch to think that well, maybe this is just the tip of the iceberg? Perhaps we'll find out more about John's "secret family" later. Very interesting.

Pretty gory stuff with Sam and those ghouls...yuk! Poor Sammy!

And some great comedy moments with Dean and Adam - poor Dean! So suspicious (mind you, so was I!). And Sammy, getting to play the big brother for a change - awwwww!

Right, so on the whole, not one of my favourite episodes, but worth waiting for nonetheless.

And onto episode 20, "The Rapture". The synopsis I read for this episode was:

"The brothers are now looking for Castiel after Dean saw Castiel in his dreams saying he needs to say something important but to meet somewhere private. Then they find Jimmy, human vessel of Castiel."
And here's another version I found:

"The paths of Heaven and Hell cross yet again when Lilith decides to torment Castiel by possessing the daughter of the man he's possessing and afflicting his host with mental and emotional turmoil."

How To Kill Time While Waiting For The Next New Supernatural Episode...

What have I been doing to try and make time fly till the next new episode, "Jump the Shark", on 24 April?

Well, mainly reading fanfics and re-watching series 1, to be honest. I've found some cool stuff on YouTube to share as well.

Firstly, the fan-fics. If you're in for a little light humour (and let's face it, humour is good - especially WINCHESTER humour!), check out these great stories:

What Happens When You Give Dean Morphine (hysterical!!). Just a short, one-shot, but so funny!

The First Two Rounds - I actually laughed OUT LOUD when I read this (seriously!) - very funny, pretty short (only a one-shot) but I loved it!

Now, the YouTube stuff...

I found this and thought I'd share - it's Jared Padalecki's screen test for Sam! How cool is this?! It's an added extra in the DVD box set of series 2 (I think?). It really gives an insight into the whole casting thing and shows what a great actor Jared really is. I can't imagine Sam being played by anyone else.

This was also an added extra on one of the DVD box sets (can't remember which one, offhand - I have 'em all!). A day in the life of Jared and Jensen, which is very cool - we get to see behind the scenes :)

Hopefully this'll keep you busy for abit - only another week to go people!! Hang in there :)

Oh - and to all of those LUCKY LUCKY peeps who are going to the Sydney convention this weekend - rock it! Hope you guys have a ball!

More "Monster At The End of This Book" conjecture

I read this recently over at BuddyTV...and I must say, I like it! It makes good sense to me, what do you think?

"The latest episode of Supernatural featured meta jokes on top of meta jokes, so it stands to reason that the title of the episode might also include some hidden secrets.

Fans were quick to notice that The Monster at the End of This Book is actually the title of a Sesame Street children’s book featuring Grover. Could this harmless piece of kiddie lit hold the secret to the entire Supernatural mystery?

In the book, which is itself a piece of meta fiction, Grover talks directly to the person reading the book, warning them about the monster at the end and urging the reader not to continue reading. It’s a rather adult concept, but if you reach the end, you get a surprise.

At the end of “The Monster at the End of This Book,” it’s revealed that the monster is actually Grover himself and was all along. Though Grover never realized it, he is the monster. But how does this factor into Supernatural?

Applying the book’s ending to this season of Supernatural, maybe the “monster” of the season has been there all along. The monster is Lucifer, who Lilith revealed is trapped in a cage. If the cage is just metaphoric, maybe Lucifer is actually lying dormant in a person. Maybe Lucifer is Sam Winchester.

Before I’m burned at the stake for suggesting such an idea, there may be a sound basis for this theory. The breaking of the 66 Seals this season has mirrored Sam’s own descent into darkness, drinking demon blood and becoming more powerful. In addition, Lilith wanted to make a deal to stop breaking the Seals in exchange for Sam’s head on a spike. If she has seen the end and knows that she won’t make it to see the good part, maybe she knows that when the final Seal is broken, Lucifer will take over Sam’s body and kill her, fulfilling Sam’s own promise to be the one to kill Lilith. It could also explain the angels’ trepidation over Sam using his powers.

Obviously letting Sam be overtaken by Lucifer would be a controversial move, but as Chuck Shurley said, he does put Sam through plenty of suffering for the sake of artistic symmetry. A life that started with a demon dripping blood into the baby’s mouth as part of a deal is one that could end with the ultimate revelation that the entire deal was designed to bring forth Lucifer.

There’s also some beautiful artistic symmetry if Dean is the one chosen by God and his own brother is Lucifer’s vessel. That’s the kind of storytelling Chuck Shurley would enjoy."

Again - thanks to the writers over at BuddyTV for this intriguing concept - it's one I certainly think makes sense, and if it is correct...well, we're in for one hell of a season cliffhanger folks!!

The Monster At The End of This Book - aftermath

Well, after watching "The Monster At The End Of This Book", I can honestly say I've not laughed so hard since "Yellow Fever"! Where do I even start?!

Some genuine comedy gold there, people!

On the more serious side, I really liked the scene with Chuck and Sam, where we get to see Sammy's point of view (re the whole Ruby/demon blood thing). We've been lacking that recently.

Loved Chuck - great character. And nice to see Lilith as a grown-up for a change (pretty hot she was, too). And so great that we're back in the game when it comes to the countdown to the finale. Really moving along now! Some great bro on bro sparring there too (especially in the diner - with Dean getting in a dig to Sam about sleeping with Ruby). Great to see Castiel again (as always - great character, he really grounds things) - and he's helping Dean now too. Cos the boy needs a break! It's hard work saving the world!

Next episode, "Jump The Shark", airs in the US on 23 April (that's 24 April, around 5pm NZ time, at least, that's when it's available to watch online). "Jump the Shark" is when a new Winchester brother is introduced, so those in the know are saying. That's kinda weird. But, apprently it's short-lived, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens there.

Gonna be a long few weeks...! I'll do my best to keep the excitement alive by posting regularly during the week with more stuff to keep us busy (I hope!).

It's A Terrible Life - aftermath

Well, episode 17 "It's a Terrible Life" has been and gone...can't say it was a favourite, but I know that it had to be shown. I was a weeeeeee bit disappointed, as after all the angst and storyline from last week, I was expecting some more answers this week. Was looking forward to seeing Dean come to grips with his destiny and then get on with saving the world. Alas, not to be.

"It's A Terrible Life" was pretty funny - loved the boys surnames "Smith and Wesson" - cool! And the Ghostfacers were hysterical! It was pretty light-hearted, until the end. I see we had to be shown this, as Dean was shown it, to see that hunting is definately his destiny. That he was doing exactly what he SHOULD be doing. I'm hoping that this week's episode "The Monster At the End of This Book" will take us back on track.

Although, judging by this snippet, maybe not...?

I get that it can't be ALL angsty ALL the time, but with only 5 episodes to go, I was hoping for more "gusto" from now on - like a full-on freight train hurtling towards the end of the line. That remains to be seen I suppose.

Great thing about "It's A Terrible Life" was NO RUBY! Woot!! So want to see her die - and soon! I'm hoping that Ruby's the one "close to Sam and Dean" who is rumoured to be killed off before season's end. But part of me wonders if that was Pam...? Who knows. Kripke certainly does...and he ain't telling :)

"Fan Fiction"

Ever heard of that expression? "Fan Fiction"? It's one I've come across over the past few months, while trawling online for SN stuff, through various sites. From what I can gather, it means "stories written by SN fans about SN", basically. I read a few snippets of a few of these and they never really did much for me, to be honest.

Recently though, I was looking on YouTube (good guess) for SN stuff, and I found a couple of "fan vids" made by user angelustatt (aka: Lisa from Aussie). Intrigued by the vids, I followed a link to her "fan fic" site, where she has written heaps of very cool SN "episodes". I started reading...and got totally hooked! I've read 3 so far, currently reading the 4th.

She is brilliant (and I seriously mean BRILLIANT!). I got so immersed in the stories that I almost forgot that they weren't ACTUAL episodes of SN - it was like reading scripts for the series, only better! Her plots were awesome, the dialogue was very true to the characters, and they're so addictive! I was reading before work, after work, right into the early hours of the morning - honestly, if it were a book I was reading, I wouldn't have been able to put it down. Yes, THAT good!

So, in the interests of sharing, and because I've been abit slack this week at updating this blog (mainly due to aforementioned new addiction!), here are a few links for you, as well as the fanvids that go with them. I seriously think they deserve this kind of attention - she's a genius! Just the thing to help me through the hiatus between series 4 and 5 that I am dreading so much...only 6 more episodes to go and then another looooooooooooong wait...(shudders).

Her "Protectorverse" series starts with "Protectors of the Innocent". The story continues with "Broken Lands" and is followed by "Amen". I'm currently reading "Rockabye" (and loving it!).

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG................!!!

If you haven't yet, WATCH IT HERE! What an awesome episode!

SPOILER ALERT (if you haven't watched it yet, don't read any further.....!!).

My God, Sammy! WTF???? And Ruby's face while he was "feeding" off her blood - she is soooooo gonna die! Evil wench! I think if her intentions have been unclear thus far, that face says it all. I hope she's the one who is "close to Sam and Dean" who dies this season, cos she is one nasty biatch! And Sammy's little trick with Alistair - did you see Cas's face? I don't think Dean saw that (he was out cold), but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan...where is he going? I know he was helping the angels, but that is one scary dude now. That power...can he control it? Or will Ruby continue to control him?

And Dean...my heart was in my mouth in that last scene. You can just see his spirit is broken. In all the spoilers I've read this past week, nowhere did it mention Anna's return or Uriel's death. They were very well-kept secrets.

Oh poor Dean...

No? Neither have I. Probably because, due to some inexplicable reason, TVNZ NEVER PROMOTE SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!!! I've never ever seen a promo on NZ television. Wonder why that is? Do they not think it's worth promoting? Are they high???

So annoying. I'd be interested to find out what the viewing figures are for SN here in NZ actually. Might do some digging online and see what I can find...

I found this scene from Jensen's "Ten Inch Hero" movie (due out on DVD soon apparently) on YouTube and thought I'd share :D Such a great scene, can't wait to see the movie (cool hair too LOL! I can just imagine what Dean would say...).

Thanks to a tip-off by a fellow fan (thanks Vic!), here's an even better link to the "On the Head of a Pin" episode...this is apparently what Canadian viewers get to see, not the US version.

I don't know what shocks me more - is Sam drinking Ruby's blood..?? What the hell???? It kinda explains alot though. And poor Dean!! When Alastair says "The first seal shall be broken when a righteous man sheds blood in hell", does he mean Dean?? If it does, I for one never saw that one coming. If I were Dean, I'd be feeling pretty darn shitty about now.

I was surfing online today and I found this great site - www.j-padalecki.org - full of awesome stuff, including these hilarious SN quotes, which I just HAD to share :D

Some of them brought back great memories of some favourite SN episodes and I cracked a grin more than once!

Here's what I mean:

Sam: “Dude, you gotta update your cassette tape collection.”

Dean: “Why?”

The Aftermath

Well, what an episode THAT was eh? (Don't read any further if you don't like spoilers!!).

Biggest shock was Pamela Barnes getting killed off. What the....!? She was so much fun, and all that unresolved flirting with Sam...such a waste.

Secondly, what the hell is up with Sam these days!? The lying is getting out of control - more lying to Dean, and now lying to a 12 year old dead kid? This is not going to end well.

And Dean...the little tete-a-tete with Tessa (so good to see her character again after the brief appearance in the opener of season 2, by the way!). I didn't really get that part, to be honest. Was it just so she could tell him to all is not as it seems and to "trust your instincts" later on in the episode? Not sure, but I don't think this is good either.

Ditto Pamela's dying words to Sam...he really did look shocked at that, but will that stop him? Prob'ly not, I'm guessing.

Also, the way Sam dealt with Alastair...chilling. Lying about it to Dean gave me the heebees.

I read a couple of the recaps that Supernatural.tv had linked to, and most were in agreement that it was a fairly dark episode. I kind of agree...but it had it's lighter moments (cheers Dean!). And I wasn't at all disappointed - well worth waiting for!

Ooh, and I found this on YouTube recently as well - Jared Padalecki at Sydney's Supanova convention in June 2008 (it's the full version of the Q&A session - a whole 45 minutes!). He's a funny guy, and it's well worth watching. How someone can be this relaxed in front of a roomful of people is beyond me...!

Less than 24 hours to go and another new video clip

With less than 24 hours to go before the next SN episode, "Death Takes A Holiday", airs in the US, the CW has released another video clip as a teaser - and it's a doozy! Pamela Barnes (Traci Dinwiddie) is back (and as cool as ever) - yay!!

Cool! Just found this on the www.supernatural.tv site - 3 video clips for the next SN episode (due to air in the US in 3 days - woot!!) - just CLICK HERE to view them. Looks like it might not be a full-on "serious" episode this time round - the first clip features Dean putting his ENTIRE HAND in Sam's body!

New episode for series 4: "It's A Terrible Life"

I just found this on the great MultipleVerses.com site - it airs on Thurs 26 March in the US (apparently they got it direct from the CW network, who airs the show in the US).

On a personal level, I really like the sound of this episode. Sounds alot like the "What Is and What Should Never Be" episode from series 2, which was one of my personal favourites.

Here's the synopsis:

“It’s a Terrible Life”

IF THE WINCHESTERS WEREN’T HUNTERS — Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are living very normal and separate lives. Dean is a corporate man who enjoys health drinks and listens to news radio vs. rock stations. He works at a company called Sandover Bridge & Iron Company alongside Sam (Jared Padalecki) who is in Tech Support. It seems as if the two do not know each other. However, after co-workers start committing suicide at an alarming rate, the two find themselves working side by side to solve the murders.

Hi guys! Welcome :)

This blog will try to spread the love (and the word) about Supernatural (currently screening on TV2 on Friday at 10.3opm - I know, it sucks - what a timeslot!!). Add to that the fact that TVNZ don't seem to even PROMOTE the show (have never seen an ad for it), and that they're only showing series 2 at the moment (series 4 currently screening in the US) and I'm not actually sure if anyone will find this blog...!

BUT - if you do - welcome!! Tell your friends about it and join in with comments etc so we can make it fun!

There are quizzes for you to take on the right hand side of this page, along with some helpful links I've found to other SN fan sites. If you know of other helpful links, please let me know and I'll add them! This blog is for all of us fans to share!

Abit about me - well, not much to tell really. I'm a (relatively) normal mother of 2 young kids, with a busy social life, I work and have hobbies that take up my time (I design jewellery and handbags, predominately, although will turn my hand to most anything). I love music, YouTube and I have my own website (www.pallinadesigns.com). And I'm a BIG Supernatural fan (but then again, that part you probably already guessed).

I downloaded all of series 4 off the internet (using the link to the right, from Megan, who's Stateside) and have the DVD box sets of series 1, 2 and 3. So I'm fully up to date!

So, this blog is for us - the fans. Any info gratefully received, so keep it coming in!

Only 5 more days till the next Supernatural episode screens in the US (and will be available to download online). Woohoo! I'm counting down the days, I tell ya...(sad, but true!).
